whitney elizabeth was started by portsmouth, new hampshire-based artist whitney somerville in 2004. always dabbling in creative ventures, and with a love for all things patterned, whitney decided to design and produce a line of products to share her passion for the unique and handmade. she fell in love with surface design and enjoys pushing herself to create new patterns and products. after working for a surface designer in austin, texas, then studying surface design in london, england, she continues her creative journey, now focusing on licensing her patterns inspired by her surroundings - both in nature and urban settings.

she loves to travel, garden, play with flowers, curl up with a good movie, magazine or book, spend time with family & friends, and sit in cafés sipping tea or coffee while daydreaming about her next creative project.
